If you have wondered why I haven’t posted, I can tell you it’s because life got in the way.
R’s father is sick, and so he and little R raced down to Melbourne to be with family. I am here holding down the fort alone. My job picked this very time to become a political nightmare, and I have spent most of my last teaching week feeling sick to my tummy and anxious over events I can’t control, can’t change, yet have no choice but to be a part of. Thank goodness it’s over, and thank goodness I have had a year of wonderful children and wonderful (for the most part) parents.
Who showed their appreciation muchly. I am in possession of MYER vouchers, massage vouchers, umptydoo boxes of Godiva chocolates (I must have mentioned something once!) 3 mangoes (yep, the kids know me well, I am a sucker for a mango). I also received a glamour shoot voucher with complete make up, hair and shoot and one free portrait of my choice. AND from another person, a voucher for family portrait. Many Christmas decorations, much smelly stuff (which I have enough of over the years to keep me stink free until I am 97) Maxwell and Williams china, some CDs and other cool stuff.
I am always in awe of what people gift to us early years teachers. Some people spend a fortune. And it is never expected, but so appreciated.
I cried. (of course). And next year I start again.
Speaking of Santa, over on Aussie Bloggers, Kin hosted a Secret Santa, with the theme ‘Stationery’. I was the lucky recipient of one of these little groovers.

Don’t know who from though, they have not outted themselves yet!
To see what I gave, you can go here.
I was a bit risque with my recipient, he is a male and buying men’s stationery is bloody hard! Fortunately, he has a sense of humour and all was good.
Now, this little Santa’s helper is going to have a swim, a long shower and open a glass of red. Think whimsically of my ‘babies’ as they move up a grade, eye off my chocolates, and get ready for 6 weeks off.
I really earnt them this year.

An adorable little secret Santa gift.
I’ve been faced with my annual dilemma of what to give my daughters teachers and again have chosen book store vouchers because I figure I can’t go too far wrong there.
Hate it when life gets in the way of blogging.

Committees can be such nightmares, can’t they?
Glad it is over.
Enjoy the perks of a year well done :)

Oh I want to work there! I got nothing like that!
And I can only read between your lines to guess about some of your work issues!
Enjoy the sleep-ins and rest now!

My dad was a school teacher and then Principal. THe gifts he got were pretty thoughtful and plenty of. I especially liked Easter when he’d bring home masses of Easter eggs!

I am agog at all your gifts. Some good ideas in there ‘though. Poor PL’s teacher got a rather hurried bought box of chocolates rather than item I was making for her because she left two weeks early to go o/s and I hadn’t finished it!

Teacher’s can never truly be compensated for the work they do! So much more than a job or a career is teaching! Now, would you care to share some of that Godiva?

I am afraid my daughter’s teacher got what we could afford this year. Sigh.
Enjoy your holidays – well deserved.

Oooh, don’t get me wrong! My words regarding lavish gifts were aimed at expressing my amazement at gratitude.
I am as happy with a hug and a thank you.
And the mango(e)s. Ohhhh the mango(e)s… ;)

The teachers’ gifts will be going out next week. Altho I have merely 2 children (3 & 5 years old), it seems that I am pulling together a swack of gifts for teachers this year: 1 preschool teacher with 2 assistants; a kindergarten teacher; plus 2 daycare-givers (even tho my children are in daycare only 2 mornings per week). We are only at the X’mas break which means June will be coming soon enough but then I’ll only have to get gifts for the teachers and the assistants, not the daycare-givers! (K and N are done daycare next week! K isn’t expected to be in daycare again; N will likely attend part-time starting in Sept 2009!)
Enjoy your much needed break! That chocolate and smelly-stuff should come in handy!

Wow! Loved your secret Santa gift — good job the guy did have a sense of humour, as you say!
I reckon you’ve earned all those wonderful prezzies from the kids — sit back and enjoy as much as you can of the summer break. Teachers are the best.

This time of year is never good for the teacher’s waistline!
I’m two days in and loving my six weeks – hope you love yours too.
Hope R’s dad is on the mend.

Lavender. Lots of lavender and peppermint. If there’s none to be had, a mug of coffee with cocoa and some E&J Cask And Cream thrown in always calms me down. Hope all is well now…

I saw your comment over at mine and wanted to let you know that I have uploaded the photo to Redbubble – in my sidebar – I don’t know though – it looks whiter in that format than cream -

You are silly – I have only very quietly and in the last two days set that up and now I am embarrassed because I thought you had seen that so now the two of us can slink around corners together – shuffling our feet in embarrassment!!

Enjoy your well earned 6 weeks off… especially after what sounds like a crappy week.
Hope R’s father is on the road to recovery, and that your boys are home with you now.
