The Cage

We have this weird room between the family area and outdoors. Between the sliding glass doors that close the house off from the outdoors, and the actual outdoors, there is a small room closed in with security grills.

I called it ‘the cage’.

It looks as if it would have been the original and only ‘patio’ area in the original plan. Someone a long time ago closed it in with security mesh, and later added a patio off the expanse. It made the house very dark.

The kitchen window looked straight into it, so the yard and garden was outside yet another door.

Rather odd, don’t you think?
I really did not like this at all.

Yesterday, I felt VERY grumpy and a little unwell.

I took a hammer and vented my temper. GB helped with the drill and unscrewed anything he could, I bashed the rest out with glee. The Skipper  came to the rescue before I bashed the render off the walls. Spoilsport.

Anyhow,  it’s so much lighter without ‘the cage’. The floor will have to be changed at some point.

I think it’s made a huge difference, and can live with the change in flooring until I can do proper work to the area.

Before and afters, side by side.

As always, I’d love to hear your opinion :)

  1. You did well living with that! It looks fabulous now and what a great outdoor area you have – and pool! I am most envious and the thought of many a BBQ springs to mind.

Whine or Rhubarb - your choice!
