I know. Tea smoking, yes – but tea glazing? But trust me, it’s delicious!
1/3 cup maple syrup or honey
1/3 cup BBQ sauce (I make my own)
1/3 cup very strong green tea, cold
2 tb soy sace
about 1 tb grated fresh ginger
qhole head of garlic incl paper
1/2 tsp chinese 5 spice or make your own 5 spice mix
This marinade does a 1.5 k pork belly
mix the marinade together (I leave the teabag in until I am ready to cook) Place the pork (or you can use belly strips, nice for a change) into a casserole or baking dish – make sure it is non metallic.
Marinade as long as possible in the dish.
Place in a 180 oven – don;t forget to take out the teabag, and also drain off the excess marinade for basting.
Baste regularly and bake 45 mins, until sticky and divine. Yum!
